GOLD     The Discovery of Gold  What was the name of the creek where Edward Hargraves first successfully panned for gold?  Who showed Hargraves the creek where he found gold?  Where were many prospectors going to find gold before Hargraves discovery?     The Gold Rush  When gold was discovered many people left their job to go and look for gold. Many of these people came from Victoria. The Victorian government offered a reward to anyone who could find gold within 200 miles of Melbourne.  Why did they offer this reward?  Who received the reward that the government had offered?  People came from all over the world to look for gold on the Victorian Goldfields.
